This past week, Michael Katz, revered local storyteller, visited Laguna Blanca School. Our students were treated to an interactive assembly where they listened and responded to captivating stories with engaging characters and lessons to live by.
On two other occasions, Michael Katz came to the second grade classroom for specialized storytelling workshops geared specifically for our class. Students learned the many aspects associated with the fine art of storytelling and acting: sequencing main events, stage presence, timing, comedy, and the use of hand and facial gestures. We were also fortunate enough to engage in a group activity where everyone simultaneously retold and acted out a favorite tale.
